Chapter 1

Phonetic (Greek): Polymeros kai polytropos palai ho theos lalesas tois patrasin en tois prophetais

Edified Edition (EDE)God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,

Πολυμερῶς καὶ πολυτρόπως πάλαι ὁ θεὸς λαλήσας τοῖς πατράσιν ἐν τοῖς προφήταις

Phonetic (Greek): epʼ eschatou ton hemeron toyton elalesen hemin en yhiῷ, hon etheken kleronomon panton, diʼ ohy kai ⸂epoiesen toys aionas⸃·

Edified Edition (EDE)Has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds;

ἐπʼ ἐσχάτου τῶν ἡμερῶν τούτων ἐλάλησεν ἡμῖν ἐν υἱῷ, ὃν ἔθηκεν κληρονόμον πάντων, διʼ οὗ καὶ ⸂ἐποίησεν τοὺς αἰῶνας⸃·

Phonetic (Greek): hos on apaygasma tes doxes kai charakter tes hypostaseos aytoy, pheron te ta panta tῷ ῥemati tes dynameos, ⸂diʼ ahytoy⸃ katharismon ⸂ton hamartion poiesamenos⸃ ekathisen en dexiᾷ tes megalosynes en hypselois,

Edified Edition (EDE)Who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

ὃς ὢν ἀπαύγασμα τῆς δόξης καὶ χαρακτὴρ τῆς ὑποστάσεως αὐτοῦ, φέρων τε τὰ πάντα τῷ ῥήματι τῆς δυνάμεως, ⸂διʼ αὑτοῦ⸃ καθαρισμὸν ⸂τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν ποιησάμενος⸃ ἐκάθισεν ἐν δεξιᾷ τῆς μεγαλωσύνης ἐν ὑψηλοῖς,

Phonetic (Greek): tosoytῳ kreitton genomenos ton angelon hosῳ diaphoroteron parʼ aytoys kekleronomeken onoma.

Edified Edition (EDE)Being made so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

τοσούτῳ κρείττων γενόμενος τῶν ἀγγέλων ὅσῳ διαφορώτερον παρʼ αὐτοὺς κεκληρονόμηκεν ὄνομα.

Phonetic (Greek): Tini gar eipen pote ton angelon· Yhios mou ei sy, ego semeron gegenneka se, kai palin· Ἐgo esomai aytῷ eis patera, kai aytos estai moi eis yhion;

Edified Edition (EDE)For to which of the angels said He at any time, "You are My Son, this day I have begotten You"? And again, "I will be to Him a Father, and He shall be to Me a Son"?

Τίνι γὰρ εἶπέν ποτε τῶν ἀγγέλων· Υἱός μου εἶ σύ, ἐγὼ σήμερον γεγέννηκά σε, καὶ πάλιν· Ἐγὼ ἔσομαι αὐτῷ εἰς πατέρα, καὶ αὐτὸς ἔσται μοι εἰς υἱόν;

Phonetic (Greek): hotan de palin eisagagῃ ton prototokon eis ten oikoumenen, legei· Kai proskynesatosan aytῷ pantes angeloi theoy.

Edified Edition (EDE)And again, when He brings the firstborn into the world, He says, "And let all the angels of God worship Him."

ὅταν δὲ πάλιν εἰσαγάγῃ τὸν πρωτότοκον εἰς τὴν οἰκουμένην, λέγει· Καὶ προσκυνησάτωσαν αὐτῷ πάντες ἄγγελοι θεοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): kai pros men toys angelous legei· Ὁ poion toys angelous aytoy pneymata, kai toys leitourgoys aytoy pyros phloga·

Edified Edition (EDE)And of the angels He says, "Who makes His angels spirits, and His ministers a flame of fire."

καὶ πρὸς μὲν τοὺς ἀγγέλους λέγει· Ὁ ποιῶν τοὺς ἀγγέλους αὐτοῦ πνεύματα, καὶ τοὺς λειτουργοὺς αὐτοῦ πυρὸς φλόγα·

Phonetic (Greek): pros de ton yhion· Ὁ thronos sou ho theos eis ton aiona toy aionos, ⸂kai he ῥabdos tes eythytetos⸃ ῥabdos tes basileias ⸀sou.

Edified Edition (EDE)But to the Son He says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of Your kingdom."

πρὸς δὲ τὸν υἱόν· Ὁ θρόνος σου ὁ θεὸς εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τοῦ αἰῶνος, ⸂καὶ ἡ ῥάβδος τῆς εὐθύτητος⸃ ῥάβδος τῆς βασιλείας ⸀σου.

Phonetic (Greek): egapesas dikaiosynen kai emisesas anomian· dia toyto echrisen se ho theos, ho theos sou, elaion agalliaseos para toys metochous sou·

Edified Edition (EDE)You have loved righteousness and hated iniquity; therefore God, even Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness above Your fellows.

ἠγάπησας δικαιοσύνην καὶ ἐμίσησας ἀνομίαν· διὰ τοῦτο ἔχρισέν σε ὁ θεός, ὁ θεός σου, ἔλαιον ἀγαλλιάσεως παρὰ τοὺς μετόχους σου·

Phonetic (Greek): kai· Sy katʼ archas, kyrie, ten gen ethemeliosas, kai erga ton cheiron soy eisin ohi oyranoi·

Edified Edition (EDE)And, "You, Lord, in the beginning have laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of Your hands:"

καί· Σὺ κατʼ ἀρχάς, κύριε, τὴν γῆν ἐθεμελίωσας, καὶ ἔργα τῶν χειρῶν σού εἰσιν οἱ οὐρανοί·

Phonetic (Greek): aytoi apoloyntai, sy de diameneis· kai pantes hos himation palaiothesontai,

Edified Edition (EDE)They shall perish, but You remain; and they all shall grow old like a garment;

αὐτοὶ ἀπολοῦνται, σὺ δὲ διαμένεις· καὶ πάντες ὡς ἱμάτιον παλαιωθήσονται,

Phonetic (Greek): kai hosei peribolaion helixeis aytoys, ⸂hos himation⸃ kai allagesontai· sy de ho aytos ei, kai ta ete sou oyk ekleipsousin.

Edified Edition (EDE)And as a mantle You shall fold them up, and they shall be changed: but You are the same, and Your years shall not fail.

καὶ ὡσεὶ περιβόλαιον ἑλίξεις αὐτούς, ⸂ὡς ἱμάτιον⸃ καὶ ἀλλαγήσονται· σὺ δὲ ὁ αὐτὸς εἶ, καὶ τὰ ἔτη σου οὐκ ἐκλείψουσιν.

Phonetic (Greek): pros tina de ton angelon eireken pote· Kathou ek dexion mou heos an tho toys echthroys sou hypopodion ton podon sou;

Edified Edition (EDE)But to which of the angels said He at any time, "Sit on My right hand, until I make Your enemies Your footstool"?

πρὸς τίνα δὲ τῶν ἀγγέλων εἴρηκέν ποτε· Κάθου ἐκ δεξιῶν μου ἕως ἂν θῶ τοὺς ἐχθρούς σου ὑποπόδιον τῶν ποδῶν σου;

Phonetic (Greek): oychi pantes eisin leitourgika pneymata eis diakonian apostellomena dia toys mellontas kleronomein soterian;

Edified Edition (EDE)Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for those who shall be heirs of salvation?

οὐχὶ πάντες εἰσὶν λειτουργικὰ πνεύματα εἰς διακονίαν ἀποστελλόμενα διὰ τοὺς μέλλοντας κληρονομεῖν σωτηρίαν;
