Chapter 1

Edified Edition (EDE)Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints who are in Ephesus, and faithful in Christ Jesus:

Παῦλος ἀπόστολος ⸂Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ⸃ διὰ θελήματος θεοῦ τοῖς ἁγίοις τοῖς οὖσιν ⸂[ἐν Ἐφέσῳ]⸃ καὶ πιστοῖς ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ·

Phonetic (Greek): charis hymin kai eirene apo theoy patros hemon kai kyriou Ἰesoy Christoy.

Edified Edition (EDE)Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

χάρις ὑμῖν καὶ εἰρήνη ἀπὸ θεοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν καὶ κυρίου Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): Eylogetos ho theos kai pater toy kyriou hemon Ἰesoy Christoy, ho eylogesas hemas en pasῃ eylogiᾳ pneumatikῇ en tois epouraniois en Christῷ,

Edified Edition (EDE)Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

Εὐλογητὸς ὁ θεὸς καὶ πατὴρ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ, ὁ εὐλογήσας ἡμᾶς ἐν πάσῃ εὐλογίᾳ πνευματικῇ ἐν τοῖς ἐπουρανίοις ἐν Χριστῷ,

Phonetic (Greek): kathos exelexato hemas en aytῷ pro kataboles kosmou, einai hemas hagious kai amomous katenopion aytoy en agapῃ,

Edified Edition (EDE)just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,

καθὼς ἐξελέξατο ἡμᾶς ἐν αὐτῷ πρὸ καταβολῆς κόσμου, εἶναι ἡμᾶς ἁγίους καὶ ἀμώμους κατενώπιον αὐτοῦ ἐν ἀγάπῃ,

Phonetic (Greek): proorisas hemas eis yhiothesian dia Ἰesoy Christoy eis ayton, kata ten eydokian toy thelematos aytoy,

Edified Edition (EDE)having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,

προορίσας ἡμᾶς εἰς υἱοθεσίαν διὰ Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ εἰς αὐτόν, κατὰ τὴν εὐδοκίαν τοῦ θελήματος αὐτοῦ,

Phonetic (Greek): eis epainon doxes tes charitos aytoy ⸀hes echaritosen hemas en tῷ egapemenῳ,

Edified Edition (EDE)to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

εἰς ἔπαινον δόξης τῆς χάριτος αὐτοῦ ⸀ἧς ἐχαρίτωσεν ἡμᾶς ἐν τῷ ἠγαπημένῳ,

Phonetic (Greek): en ho echomen ten apolytrosin dia toy ahimatos aytoy, ten aphesin ton paraptomaton, kata ⸂to ploytos⸃ tes charitos aytoy

Edified Edition (EDE)In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace

ἐν ᾧ ἔχομεν τὴν ἀπολύτρωσιν διὰ τοῦ αἵματος αὐτοῦ, τὴν ἄφεσιν τῶν παραπτωμάτων, κατὰ ⸂τὸ πλοῦτος⸃ τῆς χάριτος αὐτοῦ

Phonetic (Greek): hes eperisseusen eis hemas en pasῃ sophiᾳ kai phronesei

Edified Edition (EDE)which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,

ἧς ἐπερίσσευσεν εἰς ἡμᾶς ἐν πάσῃ σοφίᾳ καὶ φρονήσει

Phonetic (Greek): gnorisas hemin to mysterion toy thelematos aytoy, kata ten eydokian aytoy hen proetheto en aytῷ

Edified Edition (EDE)having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself,

γνωρίσας ἡμῖν τὸ μυστήριον τοῦ θελήματος αὐτοῦ, κατὰ τὴν εὐδοκίαν αὐτοῦ ἣν προέθετο ἐν αὐτῷ

Phonetic (Greek): eis oikonomian toy pleromatos ton kairon, anakephalaiosasthai ta panta en tῷ Christῷ, ta epi tois oyranois kai ta epi tes ges· en aytῷ,

Edified Edition (EDE)that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth, in Him.

εἰς οἰκονομίαν τοῦ πληρώματος τῶν καιρῶν, ἀνακεφαλαιώσασθαι τὰ πάντα ἐν τῷ Χριστῷ, τὰ ἐπὶ τοῖς οὐρανοῖς καὶ τὰ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς· ἐν αὐτῷ,

Phonetic (Greek): en ho kai eklerothemen prooristhentes kata prothesin toy ta panta energoyntos kata ten boulen toy thelematos aytoy,

Edified Edition (EDE)In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,

ἐν ᾧ καὶ ἐκληρώθημεν προορισθέντες κατὰ πρόθεσιν τοῦ τὰ πάντα ἐνεργοῦντος κατὰ τὴν βουλὴν τοῦ θελήματος αὐτοῦ,

Phonetic (Greek): eis to einai hemas eis epainon doxes aytoy toys proelpikotas en tῷ Christῷ·

Edified Edition (EDE)that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.

εἰς τὸ εἶναι ἡμᾶς εἰς ἔπαινον δόξης αὐτοῦ τοὺς προηλπικότας ἐν τῷ Χριστῷ·

Phonetic (Greek): en ho kai hymeis akoysantes ton logon tes aletheias, to eyangelion tes soterias hymon, en ho kai pisteysantes esphragisthete tῷ pneymati tes epangelias tῷ hagiῳ,

Edified Edition (EDE)In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

ἐν ᾧ καὶ ὑμεῖς ἀκούσαντες τὸν λόγον τῆς ἀληθείας, τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τῆς σωτηρίας ὑμῶν, ἐν ᾧ καὶ πιστεύσαντες ἐσφραγίσθητε τῷ πνεύματι τῆς ἐπαγγελίας τῷ ἁγίῳ,

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀ho estin arrabon tes kleronomias hemon, eis apolytrosin tes peripoieseos, eis epainon tes doxes aytoy.

Edified Edition (EDE)who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

⸀ὅ ἐστιν ἀρραβὼν τῆς κληρονομίας ἡμῶν, εἰς ἀπολύτρωσιν τῆς περιποιήσεως, εἰς ἔπαινον τῆς δόξης αὐτοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): Dia toyto kago, akoysas ten kathʼ hymas pistin en tῷ kyriῳ Ἰesoy kai ten ⸂agapen ten⸃ eis pantas toys hagious,

Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,

Διὰ τοῦτο κἀγώ, ἀκούσας τὴν καθʼ ὑμᾶς πίστιν ἐν τῷ κυρίῳ Ἰησοῦ καὶ τὴν ⸂ἀγάπην τὴν⸃ εἰς πάντας τοὺς ἁγίους,

Phonetic (Greek): oy payomai eychariston hyper hymon ⸀mneian poioymenos epi ton proseuchon mou,

Edified Edition (EDE)do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers:

οὐ παύομαι εὐχαριστῶν ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν ⸀μνείαν ποιούμενος ἐπὶ τῶν προσευχῶν μου,

Phonetic (Greek): hina ho theos toy kyriou hemon Ἰesoy Christoy, ho pater tes doxes, doῃ hymin pneyma sophias kai apokalypseos en epignosei aytoy,

Edified Edition (EDE)that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,

ἵνα ὁ θεὸς τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ, ὁ πατὴρ τῆς δόξης, δώῃ ὑμῖν πνεῦμα σοφίας καὶ ἀποκαλύψεως ἐν ἐπιγνώσει αὐτοῦ,

Phonetic (Greek): pephotismenous toys ophthalmoys tes kardias hymon eis to eidenai hymas tis estin he elpis tes kleseos aytoy, ⸀tis ho ploytos tes doxes tes kleronomias aytoy en tois hagiois,

Edified Edition (EDE)the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

πεφωτισμένους τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς τῆς καρδίας ὑμῶν εἰς τὸ εἰδέναι ὑμᾶς τίς ἐστιν ἡ ἐλπὶς τῆς κλήσεως αὐτοῦ, ⸀τίς ὁ πλοῦτος τῆς δόξης τῆς κληρονομίας αὐτοῦ ἐν τοῖς ἁγίοις,

Phonetic (Greek): kai ti to hyperballon megethos tes dynameos aytoy eis hemas toys pisteyontas kata ten energeian toy kratous tes ischyos aytoy

Edified Edition (EDE)and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power

καὶ τί τὸ ὑπερβάλλον μέγεθος τῆς δυνάμεως αὐτοῦ εἰς ἡμᾶς τοὺς πιστεύοντας κατὰ τὴν ἐνέργειαν τοῦ κράτους τῆς ἰσχύος αὐτοῦ

Phonetic (Greek): hen ⸀energeken en tῷ Christῷ egeiras ayton ⸀ek nekron, kai ⸀kathisas en dexiᾷ aytoy en tois epouraniois

Edified Edition (EDE)which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,

ἣν ⸀ἐνήργηκεν ἐν τῷ Χριστῷ ἐγείρας αὐτὸν ⸀ἐκ νεκρῶν, καὶ ⸀καθίσας ἐν δεξιᾷ αὐτοῦ ἐν τοῖς ἐπουρανίοις

Phonetic (Greek): hyperano pases arches kai exousias kai dynameos kai kyriotetos kai pantos onomatos onomazomenou oy monon en tῷ aioni toytῳ alla kai en tῷ mellonti·

Edified Edition (EDE)far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

ὑπεράνω πάσης ἀρχῆς καὶ ἐξουσίας καὶ δυνάμεως καὶ κυριότητος καὶ παντὸς ὀνόματος ὀνομαζομένου οὐ μόνον ἐν τῷ αἰῶνι τούτῳ ἀλλὰ καὶ ἐν τῷ μέλλοντι·

Phonetic (Greek): kai panta hypetaxen hypo toys podas aytoy, kai ayton edoken kephalen hyper panta tῇ ekklesiᾳ,

Edified Edition (EDE)And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,

καὶ πάντα ὑπέταξεν ὑπὸ τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ, καὶ αὐτὸν ἔδωκεν κεφαλὴν ὑπὲρ πάντα τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ,

Phonetic (Greek): hetis estin to soma aytoy, to pleroma toy ta panta en pasin pleroumenou.

Edified Edition (EDE)which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

ἥτις ἐστὶν τὸ σῶμα αὐτοῦ, τὸ πλήρωμα τοῦ τὰ πάντα ἐν πᾶσιν πληρουμένου.
