Edified Edition (EDE)Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,

Edified Edition (EDE)To the saints and faithful brothers in Christ who are in Colosse: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

τοῖς ἐν ⸀Κολοσσαῖς ἁγίοις καὶ πιστοῖς ἀδελφοῖς ἐν Χριστῷ· χάρις ὑμῖν καὶ εἰρήνη ἀπὸ θεοῦ πατρὸς ⸀ἡμῶν.

Edified Edition (EDE)We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,

Εὐχαριστοῦμεν τῷ ⸀θεῷ πατρὶ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ πάντοτε ⸀περὶ ὑμῶν προσευχόμενοι,

Edified Edition (EDE)since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints;

ἀκούσαντες τὴν πίστιν ὑμῶν ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ καὶ τὴν ἀγάπην ⸂ἣν ἔχετε⸃ εἰς πάντας τοὺς ἁγίους

Edified Edition (EDE)because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel,

διὰ τὴν ἐλπίδα τὴν ἀποκειμένην ὑμῖν ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς, ἣν προηκούσατε ἐν τῷ λόγῳ τῆς ἀληθείας τοῦ εὐαγγελίου

Edified Edition (EDE)which has come to you, as it has also in all the world, and is bringing forth fruit, as it is also among you since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth;

τοῦ παρόντος εἰς ὑμᾶς, καθὼς καὶ ἐν παντὶ τῷ ⸀κόσμῳ ἐστὶν καρποφορούμενον καὶ αὐξανόμενον καθὼς καὶ ἐν ὑμῖν, ἀφʼ ἧς ἡμέρας ἠκούσατε καὶ ἐπέγνωτε τὴν χάριν τοῦ θεοῦ ἐν ἀληθείᾳ·

Edified Edition (EDE)as you also learned from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf,

⸀καθὼς ἐμάθετε ἀπὸ Ἐπαφρᾶ τοῦ ἀγαπητοῦ συνδούλου ἡμῶν, ὅς ἐστιν πιστὸς ὑπὲρ ⸀ἡμῶν διάκονος τοῦ Χριστοῦ,

Phonetic (Greek): ho kai delosas hemin ten hymon agapen en pneymati.

Edified Edition (EDE)who also declared to us your love in the Spirit.

ὁ καὶ δηλώσας ἡμῖν τὴν ὑμῶν ἀγάπην ἐν πνεύματι.

Phonetic (Greek): Dia toyto kai hemeis, aphʼ hes hemeras ekoysamen, oy pauometha hyper hymon proseuchomenoi kai aitoymenoi hina plerothete ten epignosin toy thelematos aytoy en pasῃ sophiᾳ kai synesei pneumatikῇ,

Edified Edition (EDE)For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

Διὰ τοῦτο καὶ ἡμεῖς, ἀφʼ ἧς ἡμέρας ἠκούσαμεν, οὐ παυόμεθα ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν προσευχόμενοι καὶ αἰτούμενοι ἵνα πληρωθῆτε τὴν ἐπίγνωσιν τοῦ θελήματος αὐτοῦ ἐν πάσῃ σοφίᾳ καὶ συνέσει πνευματικῇ,

Phonetic (Greek): ⸀peripatesai axios toy kyriou eis pasan areskeian en panti ergῳ agathῷ karpophoroyntes kai ayxanomenoi ⸂tῇ epignosei⸃ toy theoy,

Edified Edition (EDE)that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

⸀περιπατῆσαι ἀξίως τοῦ κυρίου εἰς πᾶσαν ἀρεσκείαν ἐν παντὶ ἔργῳ ἀγαθῷ καρποφοροῦντες καὶ αὐξανόμενοι ⸂τῇ ἐπιγνώσει⸃ τοῦ θεοῦ,

Phonetic (Greek): en pasῃ dynamei dynamoymenoi kata to kratos tes doxes aytoy eis pasan hypomonen kai makrothymian meta charas,

Edified Edition (EDE)strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;

ἐν πάσῃ δυνάμει δυναμούμενοι κατὰ τὸ κράτος τῆς δόξης αὐτοῦ εἰς πᾶσαν ὑπομονὴν καὶ μακροθυμίαν μετὰ χαρᾶς,

Edified Edition (EDE)giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.

εὐχαριστοῦντες τῷ πατρὶ τῷ ἱκανώσαντι ⸀ὑμᾶς εἰς τὴν μερίδα τοῦ κλήρου τῶν ἁγίων ἐν τῷ φωτί,

Edified Edition (EDE)He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,

ὃς ἐρρύσατο ἡμᾶς ἐκ τῆς ἐξουσίας τοῦ σκότους καὶ μετέστησεν εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ υἱοῦ τῆς ἀγάπης αὐτοῦ,

Phonetic (Greek): en ho echomen ten apolytrosin, ten aphesin ton hamartion·

Edified Edition (EDE)in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

ἐν ᾧ ἔχομεν τὴν ἀπολύτρωσιν, τὴν ἄφεσιν τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν·

Phonetic (Greek): hos estin eikon toy theoy toy aoratou, prototokos pases ktiseos,

Edified Edition (EDE)He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

ὅς ἐστιν εἰκὼν τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ ἀοράτου, πρωτότοκος πάσης κτίσεως,

Phonetic (Greek): hoti en aytῷ ektisthe ta ⸀panta en tois oyranois ⸀kai epi tes ges, ta horata kai ta aorata, eite thronoi eite kyriotetes eite archai eite exousiai· ta panta diʼ aytoy kai eis ayton ektistai·

Edified Edition (EDE)For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

ὅτι ἐν αὐτῷ ἐκτίσθη τὰ ⸀πάντα ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς ⸀καὶ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, τὰ ὁρατὰ καὶ τὰ ἀόρατα, εἴτε θρόνοι εἴτε κυριότητες εἴτε ἀρχαὶ εἴτε ἐξουσίαι· τὰ πάντα διʼ αὐτοῦ καὶ εἰς αὐτὸν ἔκτισται·

Phonetic (Greek): kai aytos estin pro panton kai ta panta en aytῷ synesteken,

Edified Edition (EDE)And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

καὶ αὐτός ἐστιν πρὸ πάντων καὶ τὰ πάντα ἐν αὐτῷ συνέστηκεν,

Phonetic (Greek): kai aytos estin he kephale toy somatos tes ekklesias· hos ⸀estin arche, prototokos ek ton nekron, hina genetai en pasin aytos proteyon,

Edified Edition (EDE)And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the pre-eminence.

καὶ αὐτός ἐστιν ἡ κεφαλὴ τοῦ σώματος τῆς ἐκκλησίας· ὅς ⸀ἐστιν ἀρχή, πρωτότοκος ἐκ τῶν νεκρῶν, ἵνα γένηται ἐν πᾶσιν αὐτὸς πρωτεύων,

Phonetic (Greek): hoti en aytῷ eydokesen pan to pleroma katoikesai

Edified Edition (EDE)For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell,

ὅτι ἐν αὐτῷ εὐδόκησεν πᾶν τὸ πλήρωμα κατοικῆσαι

Phonetic (Greek): kai diʼ aytoy apokatallaxai ta panta eis ayton, eirenopoiesas dia toy ahimatos toy stauroy aytoy, ⸂[diʼ aytoy]⸃ eite ta epi tes ges eite ta ⸀en tois oyranois·

Edified Edition (EDE)and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.

καὶ διʼ αὐτοῦ ἀποκαταλλάξαι τὰ πάντα εἰς αὐτόν, εἰρηνοποιήσας διὰ τοῦ αἵματος τοῦ σταυροῦ αὐτοῦ, ⸂[διʼ αὐτοῦ]⸃ εἴτε τὰ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς εἴτε τὰ ⸀ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς·

Phonetic (Greek): kai hymas pote ontas apellotriomenous kai echthroys tῇ dianoiᾳ en tois ergois tois ponerois—

Edified Edition (EDE)And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled

καὶ ὑμᾶς ποτε ὄντας ἀπηλλοτριωμένους καὶ ἐχθροὺς τῇ διανοίᾳ ἐν τοῖς ἔργοις τοῖς πονηροῖς—

Phonetic (Greek): nyni de ⸀apokatellagete en tῷ somati tes sarkos aytoy dia toy thanatou— parastesai hymas hagious kai amomous kai anenkletous katenopion aytoy,

Edified Edition (EDE)in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight,

νυνὶ δὲ ⸀ἀποκατηλλάγητε ἐν τῷ σώματι τῆς σαρκὸς αὐτοῦ διὰ τοῦ θανάτου— παραστῆσαι ὑμᾶς ἁγίους καὶ ἀμώμους καὶ ἀνεγκλήτους κατενώπιον αὐτοῦ,

Phonetic (Greek): ei ge epimenete tῇ pistei tethemeliomenoi kai hedraioi kai me metakinoymenoi apo tes elpidos toy eyangeliou ohy ekoysate, toy kerychthentos en ⸀pasῃ ktisei tῇ hypo ton oyranon, ohy egenomen ego Paylos diakonos.

Edified Edition (EDE)if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.

εἴ γε ἐπιμένετε τῇ πίστει τεθεμελιωμένοι καὶ ἑδραῖοι καὶ μὴ μετακινούμενοι ἀπὸ τῆς ἐλπίδος τοῦ εὐαγγελίου οὗ ἠκούσατε, τοῦ κηρυχθέντος ἐν ⸀πάσῃ κτίσει τῇ ὑπὸ τὸν οὐρανόν, οὗ ἐγενόμην ἐγὼ Παῦλος διάκονος.

Phonetic (Greek): Nyn chairo en tois pathemasin hyper hymon, kai antanaplero ta hysteremata ton thlipseon toy Christoy en tῇ sarki mou hyper toy somatos aytoy, ho estin he ekklesia,

Edified Edition (EDE)I now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for the sake of His body, which is the church,

Νῦν χαίρω ἐν τοῖς παθήμασιν ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν, καὶ ἀνταναπληρῶ τὰ ὑστερήματα τῶν θλίψεων τοῦ Χριστοῦ ἐν τῇ σαρκί μου ὑπὲρ τοῦ σώματος αὐτοῦ, ὅ ἐστιν ἡ ἐκκλησία,

Phonetic (Greek): hes egenomen ego diakonos kata ten oikonomian toy theoy ten dotheisan moi eis hymas plerosai ton logon toy theoy,

Edified Edition (EDE)of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God which was given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God,

ἧς ἐγενόμην ἐγὼ διάκονος κατὰ τὴν οἰκονομίαν τοῦ θεοῦ τὴν δοθεῖσάν μοι εἰς ὑμᾶς πληρῶσαι τὸν λόγον τοῦ θεοῦ,

Phonetic (Greek): to mysterion to apokekrymmenon apo ton aionon kai apo ton geneon,— ⸀nyn de ephanerothe tois hagiois aytoy,

Edified Edition (EDE)the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints.

τὸ μυστήριον τὸ ἀποκεκρυμμένον ἀπὸ τῶν αἰώνων καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν γενεῶν,— ⸀νῦν δὲ ἐφανερώθη τοῖς ἁγίοις αὐτοῦ,

Phonetic (Greek): ohis ethelesen ho theos gnorisai ti to ploytos tes doxes toy mysteriou toytou en tois ethnesin, ⸀ho estin Christos en hymin, he elpis tes doxes·

Edified Edition (EDE)To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

οἷς ἠθέλησεν ὁ θεὸς γνωρίσαι τί τὸ πλοῦτος τῆς δόξης τοῦ μυστηρίου τούτου ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν, ⸀ὅ ἐστιν Χριστὸς ἐν ὑμῖν, ἡ ἐλπὶς τῆς δόξης·

Phonetic (Greek): hon hemeis katangellomen nouthetoyntes panta anthropon kai didaskontes panta anthropon en pasῃ sophiᾳ, hina parastesomen panta anthropon teleion en ⸀Christῷ·

Edified Edition (EDE)Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.

ὃν ἡμεῖς καταγγέλλομεν νουθετοῦντες πάντα ἄνθρωπον καὶ διδάσκοντες πάντα ἄνθρωπον ἐν πάσῃ σοφίᾳ, ἵνα παραστήσωμεν πάντα ἄνθρωπον τέλειον ἐν ⸀Χριστῷ·

Phonetic (Greek): eis ho kai kopio agonizomenos kata ten energeian aytoy ten energoumenen en emoi en dynamei.

Edified Edition (EDE)To this end I also labour, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.

εἰς ὃ καὶ κοπιῶ ἀγωνιζόμενος κατὰ τὴν ἐνέργειαν αὐτοῦ τὴν ἐνεργουμένην ἐν ἐμοὶ ἐν δυνάμει.
