Edified Edition (EDE)Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

Παῦλος καὶ Σιλουανὸς καὶ Τιμόθεος τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ Θεσσαλονικέων ἐν θεῷ πατρὶ ἡμῶν καὶ κυρίῳ Ἰησοῦ Χριστῷ·

Phonetic (Greek): charis hymin kai eirene apo theoy ⸀patros kai kyriou Ἰesoy Christoy.

Edified Edition (EDE)Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

χάρις ὑμῖν καὶ εἰρήνη ἀπὸ θεοῦ ⸀πατρὸς καὶ κυρίου Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ.

Phonetic (Greek): Eycharistein opheilomen tῷ theῷ pantote peri hymon, adelphoi, kathos axion estin, hoti hyperauxanei he pistis hymon kai pleonazei he agape henos hekastou panton hymon eis allelous,

Edified Edition (EDE)We are bound to thank God always for you, brothers, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other,

Εὐχαριστεῖν ὀφείλομεν τῷ θεῷ πάντοτε περὶ ὑμῶν, ἀδελφοί, καθὼς ἄξιόν ἐστιν, ὅτι ὑπεραυξάνει ἡ πίστις ὑμῶν καὶ πλεονάζει ἡ ἀγάπη ἑνὸς ἑκάστου πάντων ὑμῶν εἰς ἀλλήλους,

Phonetic (Greek): hoste ⸂aytoys hemas⸃ en hymin ⸀enkauchasthai en tais ekklesiais toy theoy hyper tes hypomones hymon kai pisteos en pasin tois diogmois hymon kai tais thlipsesin ahis anechesthe,

Edified Edition (EDE)so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure,

ὥστε ⸂αὐτοὺς ἡμᾶς⸃ ἐν ὑμῖν ⸀ἐγκαυχᾶσθαι ἐν ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις τοῦ θεοῦ ὑπὲρ τῆς ὑπομονῆς ὑμῶν καὶ πίστεως ἐν πᾶσιν τοῖς διωγμοῖς ὑμῶν καὶ ταῖς θλίψεσιν αἷς ἀνέχεσθε,

Phonetic (Greek): endeigma tes dikaias kriseos toy theoy, eis to kataxiothenai hymas tes basileias toy theoy, hyper hes kai paschete,

Edified Edition (EDE)which is a manifest token of the righteous judgement of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer;

ἔνδειγμα τῆς δικαίας κρίσεως τοῦ θεοῦ, εἰς τὸ καταξιωθῆναι ὑμᾶς τῆς βασιλείας τοῦ θεοῦ, ὑπὲρ ἧς καὶ πάσχετε,

Phonetic (Greek): eiper dikaion para theῷ antapodoynai tois thlibousin hymas thlipsin

Edified Edition (EDE)since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you,

εἴπερ δίκαιον παρὰ θεῷ ἀνταποδοῦναι τοῖς θλίβουσιν ὑμᾶς θλῖψιν

Phonetic (Greek): kai hymin tois thlibomenois anesin methʼ hemon en tῇ apokalypsei toy kyriou Ἰesoy apʼ oyranoy metʼ angelon dynameos aytoy

Edified Edition (EDE)and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels,

καὶ ὑμῖν τοῖς θλιβομένοις ἄνεσιν μεθʼ ἡμῶν ἐν τῇ ἀποκαλύψει τοῦ κυρίου Ἰησοῦ ἀπʼ οὐρανοῦ μετʼ ἀγγέλων δυνάμεως αὐτοῦ

Phonetic (Greek): en ⸂phlogi pyros⸃, didontos ekdikesin tois me eidosi theon kai tois me hypakoyousin tῷ eyangeliῳ toy kyriou hemon Ἰesoy,

Edified Edition (EDE)in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

ἐν ⸂φλογὶ πυρός⸃, διδόντος ἐκδίκησιν τοῖς μὴ εἰδόσι θεὸν καὶ τοῖς μὴ ὑπακούουσιν τῷ εὐαγγελίῳ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ,

Phonetic (Greek): ohitines diken tisousin olethron aionion apo prosopou toy kyriou kai apo tes doxes tes ischyos aytoy,

Edified Edition (EDE)These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

οἵτινες δίκην τίσουσιν ὄλεθρον αἰώνιον ἀπὸ προσώπου τοῦ κυρίου καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς δόξης τῆς ἰσχύος αὐτοῦ,

Phonetic (Greek): hotan elthῃ endoxasthenai en tois hagiois aytoy kai thaumasthenai en pasin tois pisteysasin, hoti episteythe to martyrion hemon ephʼ hymas, en tῇ hemerᾳ ekeinῃ.

Edified Edition (EDE)when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed.

ὅταν ἔλθῃ ἐνδοξασθῆναι ἐν τοῖς ἁγίοις αὐτοῦ καὶ θαυμασθῆναι ἐν πᾶσιν τοῖς πιστεύσασιν, ὅτι ἐπιστεύθη τὸ μαρτύριον ἡμῶν ἐφʼ ὑμᾶς, ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ.

Phonetic (Greek): eis ho kai proseuchometha pantote peri hymon, hina hymas axiosῃ tes kleseos ho theos hemon kai plerosῃ pasan eydokian agathosynes kai ergon pisteos en dynamei,

Edified Edition (EDE)Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of His calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power,

εἰς ὃ καὶ προσευχόμεθα πάντοτε περὶ ὑμῶν, ἵνα ὑμᾶς ἀξιώσῃ τῆς κλήσεως ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν καὶ πληρώσῃ πᾶσαν εὐδοκίαν ἀγαθωσύνης καὶ ἔργον πίστεως ἐν δυνάμει,

Phonetic (Greek): hopos endoxasthῇ to onoma toy kyriou hemon Ἰesoy en hymin, kai hymeis en aytῷ, kata ten charin toy theoy hemon kai kyriou Ἰesoy Christoy.

Edified Edition (EDE)that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

ὅπως ἐνδοξασθῇ τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ ἐν ὑμῖν, καὶ ὑμεῖς ἐν αὐτῷ, κατὰ τὴν χάριν τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν καὶ κυρίου Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ.
